The Enchantment of ‘Edward Scissorhands’.

The Enchantment of 'Edward Scissorhands'.

I have just finished watching, ‘Edward Scissorhands’ again; it really is a tremendously good film. Tim Burton has made some brilliant movies over the years but I think that this one is still my favourite of all. It has a little bit of everything in it; comedy, drama, romance. And that is without mentioning the excellent acting and the beautiful photography.

Was it meant to be for adults or kids? I don’t suppose it even matters. ‘Edward Scissorhands’ is a truly magical film to sit down and watch, no matter what age you are. There is something for everyone in it and I am yet to meet anyone who did not enjoy it.

In many ways it is a modern retelling of ‘Frankenstein’. The creation of a life and the fear of someone who is different to other people; when Edward is forced to run away to the place of his making it is strongly reminiscent of the scene in ‘Frankenstein’ when the creature is pursued by villagers brandishing burning torches.

Johnny Depp is superb in the lead role. He really is an incredible talented actor and is probably the most versatile of all in today’s film industry. Whatever part it is he is given, he always manages to carry it off to a tee. It is also very poignant to see the late Vincent Price playing the part of the mad professor; what a fitting final role for the great actor who made so many wonderful films.

If you are one of the few people who have not seen ‘Edward Scissorhands’ then you really do need to! It is one of those movies that can actually help us to learn quite a lot about ourselves. It manages to give many insights into the human character without being in the least bit patronising.

Final thing, I have just checked out the site design for this human resources software website and I don’t know what I think about it yet, any opinions on this you guys?
