28 Days of Horror.

If you are a fan of Sci-Fi Horror then you should already know all about ’28 Days Later’. If you are a fan of Sci-Fi Horror and you haven’t seen it then hang your head in shame and get down to that rental shop!
As far as I’m concerned, ’28 Days Later’ is one of the best British Sci-Fi films that was ever made. It was realistic, gripping and genuinely frightening. The accidental outbreak of a man-made virus is not a difficult thing to imagine.
In this day and age it is quite plausible that our scientists are busy working on something as horrific as the ‘rage’ virus of the film. After all, what a brilliant bio-weapon it would be to use in a war. There would be no need to send in any troops; once the enemy were infected they would literally tear one another to pieces. Scary thought.
The way that the film unwinds with the lead character waking up in a deserted hospital is too much of a coincidence to not be a tribute to John Wyndham. It was a great start to ‘The Day of the Triffids’ and it works just as well in ’28 Days Later’.
The film effectively introduced a whole new breed of ‘zombie’. The walking dead have become the running dead and as for shambling… forget it! When the characters in the film cross paths with ‘the infected’ it really is scary; they are fast and savage. One of the most disturbing scenes of the film is when a horde of rats are seen running away from ‘the infected’. It is the underlying message that rats do not run away from anything that makes your flesh creep.
As far as basic elements are concerned, the movie is a winner. The acting is superb, the music is chosen and used perfectly and the photography is brilliant. An absolute must for any fan of the Sci-Fi/Horror genre.
One thing I can garantee: After this film you will make sure your car is full of biodiesel to get away from zombie attacks.
