The Rot In Hollywood.

Shouldn’t film be an art form? I have got little time for dumb movies with dumb stories and dumb photography. Hollywood has bored us for years with the same old blend of tiresome films and over-rated actors.

In the early days of cinema there were the wonderful expressionist films such as, ‘The Cabinet of Dr.Calagari’, ‘Metropolis’ and ‘Nosferatu’. Sets were masterpieces, actors had to be good and stories were incredibly clever. Since then there have always been some good releases (more…)

Why 'Paranormal Activity' Succeeds.

I have just watched one of the scariest films ever.

Not many horror films are genuinely frightening, even when they are hyped up to be. In actual fact, many of them can leave you feeling really disappointed when they fail to live up to all of the blurb which precedes them. ‘Paranormal Activity’ is not one of these.

Sure, there has been a lot said about how scary it is, but this film actually delivers its promise. If you (more…)

Back To The 80s.

When I read this post about ‘ I think that one of the best from that time has to be, ‘The Breakfast Club’. It was just such a cool movie. Others that I remember enjoying are; ‘The Hitcher’, ‘Repo Man’ and ‘Rumblefish’. There seemed to be an endless supply of really good actors back in the eighties.

When it comes to translating a book into a film it can go one of two ways. There have been some brilliant adaption’s that have stayed very loyal to the original story but there have also been a few total travesties. These are just a taster from each end of the enjoyment spectrum–
